being 20s

your 20s are a strange age.

you are old enough to decide things for yourself, and still young enough to have no idea what you are doing.

some weeks you feel fine. you have a plan. you know what you are working toward.

then you wake up on a tuesday and none of it feels certain.

people you went to school with are getting jobs, moving out, traveling, starting businesses, getting married, buying things you cannot afford.

so you feel behind.

but behind what? there is no schedule. nobody handed you one.

your 20s are not a deadline. they are for trying things, getting them wrong, changing your mind, and slowly working out what you really want.

you can quit a job you fought to get.

you can switch careers.

you can drift away from friends.

you can start over.

you can give a year to something that goes nowhere.

none of that is failure.

there is also this pressure to make your 20s look good from the outside. travel more. earn more. look better. build something. stay busy. have a story people want to hear.

but a good life can be quiet.

maybe you are just working, saving a little, playing games at night, listening to music, trying to be slightly better than you were last year.

that counts.

i think the hardest part is learning that you cannot keep every version of yourself.

you change, and some things stop fitting. hobbies you loved get boring. friendships go quiet. dreams turn into other dreams.

that's okay. you are allowed to outgrow yourself. you are allowed to become someone you did not plan on.

there's still so much time.

you do not have to rush into a life just because everyone around you seems to be moving.

take your time. get things wrong. try again. keep what matters. drop what does not.
