things worth writing down.
claude
most of what i do in a day goes through claude in some form. the chat is the first one. quick questions, looking things up, checking whether i understood something correctly, editing my own writing until it sounds less stiff. it replaced the tab where i used to keep ten half-read search results open. then claude code, which is what i build with now. i used it through my work and i still use it for everything personal.
what finally made me buy a mac
i used windows for over ten years. i started on a potato laptop that could barely run the games i wanted. in 2022, right before college, i finally got a gaming laptop. i had the option to go with a mac back then. i picked windows because i wanted the thing i had been waiting years for, playing the games with heavy system requirements that my old laptop could never handle. i got that. i bought games on steam. it was worth it for a while.
two minimal phones i almost bought
i overthink, and a phone that hands me something new every time i unlock it gives that habit more to work with. for a few months i was set on fixing that with hardware. i read about these two for weeks and came close to ordering both. i never did. here is what pulled me in, and why i am still on my iphone. calls and texts. no app store, no browser, no feed. it works as a hotspot and it has an encrypted messaging app called pigeon. that is the whole list.
midown
i tried out midown, a tool that helps AI coding agents understand how a codebase is put together. it also happens to be built by a friend from college. we worked on a road defect indexing system together, it's fun to see something he made grow into its own project. midown turns your codebase into a graph. instead of letting an AI dig through every file to figure out how things connect, midown hands it a clear view of your files and how they relate.
