why i repeat my outfits

i repeat my outfits. a few sets, worn on rotation, week after week. here's why.

the first reason is that i didn't like deciding. getting dressed is a small choice, but it's the first one of the day, and i was spending real thought on it before anything that mattered. picking from a closet full of options doesn't feel like freedom in the morning. it feels like work. repeating an outfit takes the decision off the table.

the second is money. i used to buy a lot of clothes and it always ended the same way. i'd wear one outfit constantly and let the rest sit there. then i'd see something new, buy it, and drop the outfit i loved a month ago. the old favorite just stays in the wardrobe for the rest of its life.

the third is that a full wardrobe makes me anxious. i don't like owning things i don't use, and a rack of clothes i never reach for sits badly with me. fewer things is calmer, not just cheaper.

the only thing that held me back was other people. repeating an outfit at school or work felt a bit embarrassing at first. i kept wondering if someone would notice and assume i never wash my clothes.

that's why i repeat a rotation and not a single uniform. a few outfits, cycled through the week, all of them things i like. nobody is tracking it, and if they are, they just see variety.

what i got out of it is small but real. i think less in the morning, i buy less, and i wear everything i own.
